Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 stated that land west of the Apalachian mountains was reserved for Native Americans. The colonists became angry that they could not have the land to themselves. -
Sugar Act
The sugar act ended traders smuggling sugar and molasses from the French and Dutch West Indies. The colonists protested and the tax was later reduced. -
Currency Act
This Act prevented the colonial US citizens from making their own money. Colonists were angry at Parliament for this. -
Stamp Act
The British Parliament taxed everything dealing with paper in the Colonies of North America. The colonists started boycotting British goods because they had become furious. -
Quartering Act of 1765
British Troops were ale to reside in colonist's homes and this angered them. -
Declaratory Act
This Act told British lawmakers that they can make laws affecting the colonies "in all cases whatsoever." -
Townshend Acts
Taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. These taxes lead to more boycotts. -
Boston Massacre
British troops opened fire on angry colonists and killed 5 of them. -
Boston Tea Party
Bostonian colonists were angry they had to pay taxes on tea they did not want so they disguised themselves as Native Americans and dumped the tea into Boston Harbor. -
Coercive Acts
As a response to the Boston Tea Party, Parliament prohibited boats to load and unload in the harbor, they also offered protection to royal officials. -
Quartering Act of 1774
This act is a revision of the earlier act by the same name just meaning that colonists have to provide housing to the soldiers. -
Quebec Act
This act gives the province of Quebec some territory back and sets the rules for their judicial branch.
