    on april 19 1775 british troops were sent to confiscate colonial weapons. They also hoped to capture john hancock and samuel adams they where the leaders of the sons of liberty. the british set out to capture the patriot leader but Paul Revere and William Dawes set out on horseback to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock and the minutemen. roughly 7200 colonists died in the skirmish. the shot heard around the world is the main reason for starting the war.
