Diego Rivera was born in Guadajuato,Guanajuato. He was decended from Jews (that converted to Roman Catholicism) on his mother's side and was decended from Spainish nobility on his father's side. Diego had a twin(Carlos) that died 2 years after birth. -

Academy of San Carlos
At age ten, he studied art at the Academy of San Carlos in Mexico city. -
Europe
He was sponsered to continue study in Europe by Teodoro A.Dehesa Mendez, the governer of Veracruz. -
Eduardo Chicharro
He went to study with Eduardo in Madrid, Spain, and from there he went to live and work with the great gathering of artists in Montparnasse. -
Cubism
From 1913 to 1917 Diego enthusiacticlly embraced this new School of Art (Cubism). (Paris was seeing the begining of Cubism in paintings.) -
Post Impressionism
Around 1917,inspired by Paul Cezanne's paintings, Rivera shifted towards Post Impressionism with simple forms and huge patches of bright colors. -
Italy
In 1920, Diego was urged by Alberto J. Pani, the Mexican ambassador to France, to leave France and travel through Italy to study their art. -
