Mussolini, was rescued by Hitler’s forces, and brought to German-occupied northern Italy, he was appointed as Hitler’s 'puppet leader' of the Italian Social Republic and leading to the extermination of thousands of Italian Jews.

Allied forces invaded Italy in June 1945, and Mussolini, along with his partner, Claretta Petacci, tries to flee to spain, but was caught and arrested by partisans searching army trucks. Mussolini and Petacci later die of gunshot wounds and are hung in the public to be spat on.
