Birth Year for Practical Photography
1839 was the first accepted date of the birth year for practical photography. William Henry Fox Talbot invented the paper-based and salt print process which was competing with the metal base alternative process. -
Joseph Cundall
Joseph Cundall was born on the 22nd of September 1818 in Norwich. He pursued a career in photography and writing, writing children's books and photographing English soldiers such as the Crimean Heroes in 1856. Joseph's work was considered to be the new era of portraits, springboarding off the traditional painted portraits of that time era. Joseph founded the 'Photographic Institution' and was a founder as well as a member of the Royale Photographic Society of London. -

Steve Sasson an engineer at Eastman Kodak is now regarded as the inventor of the digital camera. This was the first step towards the digital era of photography, which completely revolutionised the practibility and resolution aspects of photography. -
Adobe Photoshop
Brothers Thomas and John Knoll created Adobe Photoshop, a raster graphics editor widely used today on MacOS and Microsoft Windows, considered to be the number one raster graphics editor on the market. This is very significant as it brought photo editing to a brand new spectrum and opened the doors to more possibilities when editing photographs. -
Gopro
In 2002 Nick Woodman created the GoPro, a fisheye lens camera the size of a matchbox that contained a shockproof, waterproof and fully durable film protector case that took photographs and film to the next level, particularly in action sports such as surfing and skateboarding. The GoPro revolutionized action photography and took it to new heights with the capabilities of the durable case mechanism, as well as the GoPro Pole and other accessories that benefited for certain shots. -
Phone Camera
The first Cell Phones to feature built-in working cameras were the Nokia 7650 and the Sanyo SPC-5300 which introduced a 176x208 pixel color display. This transcended and completely revolutionized photography as we could now keep a fully functioning camera in our pockets. -
Instagram
Developers Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger invented a social media application named Instagram, which is the worlds largest photo sharing platform with over 800 million registered users as of 2018. Instagram opened countless opportunities for photographers to share their work with the public with the simple tap of a screen, creating new jobs with ad revenue for budding photographers to share their work. -

Thiago Correa is a Brazilian Photographer who posts his work to his Instagram page, which currently sits at over four-hundred and three thousand followers. He is known for taking photos with his GoPro and his additional gear to create visually stunning shots of nature such as the ocean etc. Lots of his work involves a GoPro Dome, which is a plastic dome cover for the GoPro Hero that allows for an underwater and out of water 50/50 capture shot. -
