Primitive Era: Newsgroup Appear on the Internet
In 1979, Media in the form of Newsgroup started to appear on the internet after its creation. Newsgroups started posting news onto internet websites which brought the community together to read the news online. The BBS started to appear during this time to allow online news to flourish and bigger newsgroups to start to appear. A user base interaction was created during this time to allow people to log in and look at the news they want to. -
Primitive Era: First Chat System Introduced
The first chat system was introduced. This revolutionised the Social Media and allowed the spread of faster news; even if the news was fake. It was around this time as well that rumours and fake news started to appear due to the anonymous chat system. Newsgroups took advantage of these so that news and media could be given to specific people and the online news delivery system started to become competent. -
Medieval Era: Introduction of Relay Chat
The first file transfer system that was integrated into the chat system was created and people could more freely chat and share media with each other. Keeping in touch with the world became much easier for everyone and the news was constantly updated through chats or other websites. Media was so easily shown online that it was so simply accessed by most of the audience. -
Medieval Era: ICQ and Multi-Massaging
First implementation of the multi messaging system in games allowed media to spread massively and the use of words such as "LOL" and "OMG" started to appear. This massively changed the way media was written and how it was sent to others. -

The first internet form of Mass Media finally appears in the form of 1997 called Six Degrees. Similar to facebook it allowed the spread of media extremely fast and at an unpredicted rate. -

The first Online Blogs and Forums appeared that allowed people to freely express their views and share media they found interesting developing the internet as a mass media. -
Modern Era: Launch of Wikipedia
The first information correlating platform to be released, Wikipedia allowed the general public to create pages on information and media and place what they wanted onto a website to allow others to view the information to read and see. Once again this launch started the craze known as the internet where a search can find you multiple views on information and other media needed -
Modern Era: Myspace Lauch
The first online mass media social platform that was extremely successful was created that allowed users to create public comments on another person's profile to express views and to have bulletin boards that could be seen by other people. This media was one of the first softwares to start the social networking craze; a type of mass media. -

Facebook is created for Harvard Students by Mark Zuckerberg and is then popularised and released to the general public where billions of users now use it to express views, talk to friends and strangers, share videos and things that they like. The biggest social networking platform and the most influential social media that is part of the developing mass media. -

Reddit is a social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website. Reddit's registered community members can submit content, such as text posts or direct links that include any form of media online to express views, share media and create communities with people that have common interests. -

The creation of Youtube, a mass media social media platform revolutionised the way people shared media with others. It allowed people to post videos of themselves or others talking about things that they wanted expressing something they liked or disliked for others to stream and watch. Youtubers are professionals at creating these types of media and influence social media as a whole. Each successful youtuber can be considered a mass media of their own. -
