    Low level French officials,Hottinguer, Bellamy, and Hautevale, refused to negotiate peace without bribes which caused Americans to be outraged and then they pushed for Adams to declare war. Adams continued to attempt to negotiate while a quasi war occurred. Eventually, the Convention of 1800 allowed Adams to preserve peace between the U.S. and French.

    Military conflict between the British and U.S.due to issues involving trade and the impressment of U.S. sailors into the British navy. The war had no signifigant impact aside from newfound nationalism in the U.S. citizens.

    The Treaty of Ghent ended the War of 1812 between the United States and Britain. Although the peace treaty had been signed, word had not yet reached America when Jackson led the the Americn army into the Battle of New Orleans, one of the most major battles of the war.
