    -Wrote The Declaration of Independence
    -Wrote The Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom
    -Advocated for free public education
    -Served as the first U.S. Secretary of State
    -Made the Louisiana Purchase Chester hears about Jefferson's plan to make the Louisiana Purchase and he thinks that it is the wrong move to make for his country.
  • Lewis & Clark Expedition

    The Lewis and Clark Expedition was the first American expedition to cross the western portion of the United States. It began near St. Louis and passed through the middle U.S. to reach the Pacific coast. Chester hears about this and is confused about why Jefferson only sent two people to complete the expedition. He thinks they need more protection to survive. Although he thinks it is a good idea to do more research on the economics and agriculture of the unexplored land our west.

    War of 1812

    The War of 1812 conflict was fought between the United States and Great Britain over British violations of U.S. maritime rights. It ended with the exchange of ratifications of the Treaty of Ghent. Chester is left alone at home when all of his friends are sent off to fight in the war of 1812. He also is called upon to make a sword for General Andrew Jackson and is honored.

    Andrew Jackson Presidency

    -Forefather of the modern Democratic Party
    -Dismantled the Second Bank of the United States in 1832 on policy ground
    -Faced down South Carolina during the Nullification Crisis when state politicians declared they had the right to nullify tariff legislation and any other Federal law that went against state interests
    -Strengthened the power of the presidency and expanded the spoils system to strengthen his political base through patronage
  • Indian Removal Act

    The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830, authorizing the president to grant unsettled lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within existing state borders. A few tribes went peacefully, but many resisted the relocation policy. Chester is happy that the Indians are being relocated because he is now planning on starting up more blacksmith shops out west.

    Abolition Movement

    Abolitionism is a movement to end slavery. Abolitionism is a historical movement to end the African and Indian slave trade and set slaves free. Chester agrees with the abolitionists and wants slavery to be ended once and for all.
  • Francis Scott Key

    Francis Scott Key was an American lawyer, author, and amateur poet from Georgetown who wrote the lyrics to the United States' national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner". After Chester get in trouble for trying to steal metals for his shop, he find a lawyer that happened to be Francis Scott Key. In the meantime he has taken up a hobby in art. Specifically paintings done by Thomas Cole.

    Mexican War

    The Mexican–American War, also known as the Mexican War, the U.S.–Mexican War or the Invasion of Mexico, was an armed conflict between the United States of America and the United Mexican States from 1846 to 1848. Chester hears news of the war over the Mexican border. He believes that the U.S. should do anything they can to obtain more land.
