  • WCC Observe Relations Between Land Owners and Hunting

Incentives to property owners for allowing deer hunting to happen on their land. Examples: Tax deductions, tax breaks, etc. Some members do not like the idea of imposing on land owners for hunting. Mike Riggle suggested bonus buck tags be issued for multiple doe harvests to allow CDAC's to reduct populations.
  • WCC Notices Failure with Paper tags

Five non-fatal hunting accidents occurred during this season. There was only a 50% compliance rate on the new paper tags; hunters did not understand the new rule and hunting without back tags caused up-ticking in hunting without license.
  • WCC Makes Adjustments to Assist Seniors

WCC creates deer license for seniors over 65 because of health concerns and abilities. WCC suggests returning to durable tags and in person registration. Older people are highlighted as a main benefactor.
  • WCC Focuses on Restoring and Reassessing Issues

Motion advanced for restoring deer tagging requirements because it gives the warden a tool to enforce laws. It suggests using the 911 system to call in and report deer hit on the highway. Creating a phone-in database to register the car-killed deer and have them picked up by law officials. Concerns for deer farms being allowed to keep deer with CWD in areas of the state that do not have proper wild CWD testing.
  • WCC Meet Discusses Deer Farms and CWD

Brandon Fox expressed concern as a hunter about baiting, deer farms, minimum age hunting, etc. Laurie Seale, deer farm owner, gives history of CWD and offers possible solutions, including genetics.
