The "SPARK"
On June 28 1914, Archduke Framnz Ferdinand was assainated. His car took a wrong turn and he ended up in an ally and had a bomb thrown at his car which blew it up, when they had the chance they shot him while he was still sitting in the car. This was the unofficial start of the great war. -
Russia Mobilizes
One of the main reasons that the Russians mobilizes their troups was because they had lost in the Franco Prussian War, and didnt want to face defeat again. So when Russia and France became Allies France urged Russia to become mobilized in fear of the Germans attacking them, and the French were right. -
Germans Fire
On April 22, 1915 the German forces shock Allied soldiers along the western front by firing more than 150 tons of lethal chlorine gas against two French colonial divisions at Ypres, Belgium. -
Lusitania Sinks
Less than a year after WWI started, Germany sent a U boat out and it sent a torpedo out and sunk the Lusitania. There were more than 1,900 passengers and when the torpedo hit 1,100 of them died, 120 of them being American citizens. This was one of the major reasons the U.S. got involved in the war. -
Germany Limits Subs
On this day Germany responds to President Woodrow Wilsons demand to limit the submarine warfare. In which the Germans didnt follow the demand and continued to use their subs and attacked many more merchant ships. Also another reason the U.S. became involved. -
Zimmermann Telegram
On March 1st 1917, a message came from the foreign secretory of Germany Arthur Zimmermann. This telegram proposed the idea of a Mexican-German alliance, in case of a war between Germany and the United States. The next day President Woodrow proposed to Congress that the U.S. should start arming its ships against possible German attacks. This was the final straw and the United States firmly agreeded to join the war and become an Allie. -
United States Enters War
Four days after the Zimmerman Telegram came through, President Woodrow went to congress and officially entered the war. -
Selective Service Act
This act allowed the U.S. to draft soldiers into the military. The U.S. needed soldiers to make a difference and be a team player in the war. -

Battle of Belleau Wood
This battle was between the Germans and the U.S. in Paris. The U.S. was trying to push Germany out and away from Paris but instead caused more problems and the germans attacked the U.S. with heavy artillery and gas. -
Armistice Day
On the 11th hour of the 11th month in 1918, an armistice or temporary cessation of hostiles, was declared. The war had ended and this day will always be remebered as Veterans Day.
