    An earthquake with a magnitude of 9 hit the Portuguese city of Lisbon. A 23-foot-high tsunami wave hit the city following the Earthquake. Approximately 20,000 people were killed. This incident happened at the Feast of All Saints. A fire had started as a result of the earthquake, increasing the death toll.
