Tsunami waves that crossed the Atlantic Ocean amplified to heights of 7 m (23 ft.) or more in the West Indies. This quake started at 9:30 in the morning when people were alarmed by weak tremors.

    A violent explosion of Krakatoa volcano in the Sundra Strait between Java and Sumatra which caused the top of the volcano to collapse into the ocean. This sudden collapse produced a giant tsunami more than 35 m (115 ft.) high that destroyed 165 villages and killed more than 36,000 people. This eruption also expelled huge clouds of gas and ash which was also had a major result of death.
