Nov 1, 1755

This deadly earthquake killed an estimated 20,000 people. It had a magnitude of 9. People were worshipping when the earthquake occurred. It caused fires that burned for 5 days.

Krakatoa Eruption- Java/Sumatra

Aug 26, 1883

The eruption occurred on August 26th 1883. The magnitude was 6 and it killed 36,000 people. Supposedly, this eruption was the loudest noise ever. You could apparently hear it from 3,000 miles away.

Aleutian Earthquake- Alaska

This earthquake had a magnitude of 8.1. It killed around 160 people. This earthquake was preceded by 3 other earthquakes. The earthquakes caused a tsunami which is what did the most damage.

Great Chilean Earthquake- Chile

May 23, 1960

This earthquake had a huge magnitude of 9.5. The loss of life was predicted at 61 deaths. The largest section of the seafloor was uplifted and it was so strong it caused a tsunami to hit the hawaiin islands.

Good Friday Earthquake- Alaska

Mar 27, 1964

This earthquake had a huge magnitude of 9.2 and was said to have killed 130 people. 119 of the 130 people who died were killed by a tsunami that hit not from the actual earthquake. The total damage in todays inflated economy would amount to 2.3 Billion dollars.

Hokkaido Earthquake- Japan

This earthquake had a large magnitude of 7.8. The total amount of people killed amounted to 120 people. The earthquake caused a landslide which caused 113 of the 120 people. 7 people were killed by just the earthquake

This earthquake had a magnitude 7.1. The death toll amounted to a large number of 2,100 people. The depth of the earthquake reached 9 kilometers and it occurred just south of the equator.

This earthquake had a huge magnitude of 9.1. The death toll was insanely large with a total of 230,000 deaths. The force the earthquake had is equal to 23,000 atomic bombs. The rupture was more than 600 miles long
