On the same year of her 4th year of winning 100m Freestyle, she got arrested for taking down te japanese flag at the Emperor's Palace. She claimed to be innocent and the charges were dropped, but after the inncedent, the Emperor gave the flag as a gift but she was banned from swimming for 10 years. -
Politics?
In 1988, she was elected to the parliament of New South Wales. She served until 1991. -
Now daze!
She married Gary Ware in the 1960s, but the marriage was short-lived. She has one daughter, Dawn-Lorraine and a grandson.
