  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    This battle was fought in Massachusetts on April 19, 1775. Shot heard around the world.
  • Battle of Fort Ticonderoga

    Battle of Fort Ticonderoga
    30,000 colonial militia were rallied up to help fight. Took 50 people prisoners and the head of the Fort surrendered without even firing a shot.They fought here because the colonists wanted to take it so they could help the fur trade.
  • Battle at Bunker Hill

    Battle at Bunker Hill
    The British endured heavy lossed while the Americans had a lot fewer losses. The Americans started to get an idea that they could run with the British.
  • Battle of Trenton/Princeton

    Battle of Trenton/Princeton
    Lead by G.W., was a turning point because they captured most of the Hessian army and since they almost always lost in New York, it was a good win for the colonies. At Princeton, G.W. defeated the British by sending some soldiers first then coming in with reinforcements and wiping the British.

    This was an important turing point in the war because it told Americans that they were going to win this war. George Washington led the militia to another win.
  • Siege of Charleston

    General Henry Clinton had been there before. The British tired to reach them by water but failed. The colonies won.
  • King's Mountain

    King's Mountain
    Fought in South Carolina and the militias were about the same size. The Colony militia suprised the British Militia and the Colony militia suffered 29 lossed while all the British militia was either killed, wounded, or taken captive.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    Colonies doubled the British army. Cornwallis was surrounded by land and sea. He surrendered on October 17, 1781, and the treaty of Paris was signed a couple of years later because of this huge loss by the British.
