David Bloor was awarded his PhD by the University of Edinburgh, for his thesis, "Speech and the Regulation of Behaviour." He and Barry Barnes went on to become prominent figures in the strong program, a way of thinking that comes largely from the University of Edinburgh.

1976

David Bloor published a book, Knowledge and Social Imagery, introducing his ideas about knowledge itself. He changed the way people thought about what exactly they thought they knew.
Bloor introduced the idea that what we know is a reflection, at least in part, of the world around us

1996

Bloor was awarded the John Desmond Bernal Prize by the Society for Social Studies of Science. The organization was founded in 1975 and serves to study the social aspects of science. The award given to Bloor, represents the importance of his work in their field of study.
