Recieving Hour
Hannah sits with all the other 14 and 15 year old hopeful girls. Everyone was overjoyed about recieving their future, except poor Hannah who felt her stomach spinning like the crashing waves on the shore. -
Farewell Hannah
It was a week later, Hannah was being taken from her sea to a foreign place that she had been taught was wide fields of grain and livestock. Aboarding the orphan train she met some children being placed in Salina, Kansas too. Maybe there would be a bright outcome, then she thaught differently. Most of the children were younger than Hannah, maybe 10 or 11 she thought, all from Childrens Aid in New York. -
Welcome Back!
Hannah had been in Kansas for about a week when the Reverend and Gertrude were informed by Hannah about her " condition " and she told them she had to get back to the sea. So later the same week they had boarded Hannah on a train back to Boston. Once Hannah returned to the Home for Little Wanderers she was greeted by a tall thin woman. The new headmaster, Mrs. Larkin had replaced the brittle Miss. Pringle. Hannah told her the story and later the same day Hannah was walking to Louisburg Square -
1st Day of Scullery Work
Hannah's first day was definetly the most stressful, she was trusted to clean the vases!~ After all the oohs and ahhhs it was time for Hannah to concentrate and manually dust the prize possessions of the Hawleys! -
They Are Back!!!
After the continous cleaning the Hawleys are finally home, with their three beautiful daughters, Henrietta, Clarice, and Lila, they are far different from Hannah in every perspective! The family arrived promptly at 5:05 just as they promised, washed up, then sat for a home dinner. Hannah could not help but admire each of the girls wonderful silk dresses. But then was caught for gawking and told to get back to Lila's room to finish her work. -
