    The treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo marked the end of the Mexican American War. It gave the U.S. 1/3 of Mexican therritory, but still gave Mexico money for their loss.

    The compromise of 1850 was a series of bills that decided how the distribution of slave states and free states would be distributed among the new territories gained from the Mexican American War.
