Daniel Dennett was born March 28, 1942. He received his Bachelors Degree under the tutelage of Willard Van Orman Quine at Harvard University and went on to the University of Oxford, where he received his Doctor of Philosophy in 1965. In his dissertation, “The Mind and the Brain: Introspective Description in the Light of Neurological Findings: Intentionality” he attempts to describe the relation between the mental and the physical. -

Broken into 4 sections, Dennett is able to articulate the problems for philosophy and contemporary science. Some refer to these essays as a guide to understanding issues that have yet to be understood for centuries. -

Dennett publishes “Darwin’s Dangerous Idea” where he attempts to provide a mechanism for Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. In his writing, Dennett describes evolution as the product of an algorithmic process, not of a superior being, such as a God. This is one of the reasons why he was named a distinguished achiever by the Freedom From Religion Foundation and is referred to as one of the "Four Horsemen of New Atheism"
