Invention of the Printing Press
When this was invented, it allowed the printing of mass documents. altough at the time most people couldn't read but it was great for the spreading of the bible and its teachings as they didn't have to be hand written meaning more could be done in less time. -

Published daily from Printing House Square in Blackfriars, the name was changed from "Daily Universal Register" to The Times on 1 January 1788 with the expansion of its coverage. The first newspaper in history to be printed on a steam-driven machine. -

this was an even more powerful means of mass media, it was state owned and created to "inform, educate and enternain" it prevoked the rise of correspondents; meaning that they are able to cover wars and large worldwide events; ther are now over 24 million TVs in UK. -
