It is believed that the Mehndi plant was carried from Egypt to India where it was used for decorating, medical uses, also to dye silk, wool, leather, horse mains and animal fur. Indian weddings were incomplete without a Mehndi ceremony, where they would get a sun on their palm which represents hands and feet. -
