Taino people settle in Cuba from Central South America. These Natives were some of the firsts to migrate to Cuba; this was before the Spanish came to Cuba. The date is not completely know just that it was in 1200. -

Christopher sails to Cuba
October 28 In Cuba Christopher Columbus landed on the Eastern coast right by Hispaniola this was the first ship that would land in Cuba sent by the Spanish. -

Cuba is Circumnavigated
Cuba is circumnavigated confirming it is an island by Sebastian de Ocampo. He sailed around for eight months and figured out that Cuba really was surrounded by water and not land. The only thing known about the date is that it was in 1508. -

The First Govenor of Cuba
Conquistador Diego Velazquez de Cuellar first governor of Cuba who took over and then governed it on the Spanish behalf. He made a deal with the Spanish to takeover and then govern Cuba only on the Spanish behalf. -

Hauteuy is burned to the stake
The Cuban resistance leader Hatuey is burned to the stake. Hatuey was the very first Cuban resistance leader who told everyone how cruel and harsh the Spaniards really were. When he was being burned he asked if there were Spaniards in heaven, when he was told there would be he said he preferred to go the other way. -

Cotton mills are to be built
4000 pesos were authorized by Emperor Charles V for the building of cotton mills. Christopher Columbus had noticed women wearing cotton when he had arrived at that time so during the reign of Charles V he authorized for cotton mills to be built. -
Tobacco Sale is banned
The sale of tobacco to foreigners is banned by the authorities. The reason that this was banned was to end smuggling that was going on a lot, mainly in Bayamo. The sale of tobacco to foreigners was then punishable by death. -
The University of Havana
University of Havana is officially founded, it was founded by Americans. This University is the largest University in Cuba. King Philip V of Spain was one of the men to give consent for this University. Before you need a Royal type name for schools, so this schools name was (In English) Royal and Ponntifical University of Saint Jerome of Havana. -
The British capture Havana
During seven years’ war British troops captured Havana from the Spain. Havana was very important to Spain’s naval base during that time. Havana was later given back to Spain under the 1763 Treaty of Paris which ended the war. -
Hurricane Mchelle
Hurricane Michelle was the strongest Tropical Hurricane that year and was Tropical depression fifteen. This hurricane killed five and left hundreds homeless in Cuba. Cuba wasn’t the only place affected by hurricane Michelle Nicaragua. Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Honduras, Bahamas and Florida were also directly affected. The Americans helped Cuba in the process to rebuild.
