This was a time of when Actors, Directors, Producers, etc. Thought to be communist, this prevented/banned them from working for the major Hollywood studios during the Red Scare. -

This was an expression for the United States civil defense shortly after the Soviet Union began Nuclear testing. This was incase of an Nuclear air raid drill. -

This couple was accused of giving secrets of the Atomic Bomb to the Russians. They were both found guilty and were sent to death by being electrocuted. -
McCarthyism
This was the time of the 2nd Red Scare which was the belief that he Soviet Union was attempting to spread communism world wide, including to the United States. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion
Failed invasion of Cuba by the CIA. CIA trained Cuba rebels in April of 1961 to try and stop communism from spreading, When they went to complete there mission every Cuba rebel CIA trained was killed. Mission failed and this was a HUGE embarrassment to John F. Kennedy, administration and the United States. This failure attack had stregthened Castro's Power. -
Cuba Missile Crisis
13 days in October 1962 U.S. Cuba and the Soviet Union came to the brink of nuclear war over the installment of missle sites everywhere in Cuba by the Soviets. -
Cuba Missile Crisis Ending
On this day President John F. Kennedy issued a formal demand to Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev that the missiles be removed from Cuba. JFK also announced that until further notice he was imposing a blockade on all offensive military equipment. A few days later Soviets removed missilesin Cuba.
