X-ray tube
The tube is very very similar to the standard X-ray tube. Focal spots, cathode, anode, electrons. -
Focal spot
2 focal spots. Smaller and larger. Small is for high resolution/thin slices. Larger is for larger scans. -
Pre-patient collimator
The beam is double collimated. Prepatient collimators are at the tube exit. Also controls SFOV. -
Scan FOV
This is the Actual area of interest that the tech pics to be scanned by the CT. -
Monitor
Image will display on monitor and then you can make adjustments need be -
Patient
The beam hits the patient after pre patient collimators. After the beam exits the patient it hits another collimators. The patient is in the gantry. -
Detector
In charge of capturing the transmitted radiation and turning it into electronic signal for image construction. -
Beam shapping filter
The filter helps harden the beam to help reduce dose and help create good diagnostic pictures. Most of the time bow tied shaped -
Pre detector collimator
It controls beam width by controlling cone beam volume. -
ADC
analog to digital converter. Converts electrical e to binary data. -
Computer array processor
It reconstructs the binary code and after that the data is marked on a matrix by a filtered back projection. -
DAC
It converts the binary data back into electrical e impulses and then they are known and recongnized by the display devices. -
X-ray beam
The X-ray beam will strike the patient in the gantry after pre patient collimators -
Digital data
After the ADC is done with the data it is turned into digital data that then goes to the array processors. -
Electrical signal project profile
After the beam hits the detector it is converted into a electrical signal before going to the ADC
