  • The Compromise of 1850

    1.) Califounia admitted to the Union as a free state.
    2.) Mexican Cession split in to two territories (Utah and New Mexico).
    3.) In return for the government assuming the $10 million public debt of Texas, Texas would give the land in dispute between texas and the New Mexico territory to the new territories.
    4.) Slave trade outlawed in D.C., but whites can continue to hold slaves.
    5.) enforce new Fugitive Slave Law
