Ended May 8, 1945; was the longest battle. The significance of this battle was that Britain and Soviet Union needed supplies and the only way they to get them was by ships. It was a sea battle. -

The battle continued to October of 1940. The significance of this battle was the fact that Germany was never able to invade Britain and if they could have taken over England they could have possibly taken over Europe. This battle was an air battle. -
