The Battle of Britain was a battle that was completely fought by the German Luftwaffe and British Royal Air Force. The two forces fought each other in the air. The Luftwaffe focused on quick bombing runs and attempted to hit many major British political buildings, but the RAF managed to hold the British off and fight them out. The British managed a victory but at a very steep price and with much of Britain being damaged. -

Battle of Midway
The Battle of Midway was the most important naval battle of the Pacfic Theater. The Japanese planned to lure the US Cruisers into a trap and take them out, but underestimated American leadership and military cunning. It was a turning point for the American naval fleet. After the battle, the Japanese weren't able to keep building there ships and repairing damages, while the US was able to do so with great speed. -
Battle of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad was a turning point for the Allies in the Eastern European front. The battle was a purely infantry battle and began with the Nazis attacking the city. Russian soldiers defended the city and fought of German soldiers for months. The battle finally ended on Febuary 2nd, 1943 and led to the Russians being able to push the Germans our of Eastern Europe. -

Battle of Iwo-Jima
Iwo Jima was a major military battle where the American military fought and captured the island from the Japanese forces. The Japanese forces were heavily defended on the island and taking the island cost the American military thousands of lives. Iwo Jima was the only battle in which US Marine Forces exceeded more casualties than that of the Japanese army. It is known as one of the bloodiest battles of the Pacific theater. -

Fall of Okinawa
The Battle of Okinawa was the largest amphibious assault in the Pacfic Theater during World War II. The invasion was supported by Naval, Amphibious, and Tactical air forces throughout the entire battle. The battle was important because the US planned to take over the island and use it as a base of operations for their Air forces on their final push to the Japanese mainland, codenamed Operation Downfall. Okinawa was one of the bloodiest battles the Americans had fought, losing over 65,000 men. -
