The Battle of Britain was an air raid of Germany on Great Britain. This was an air battle and on September 17, Hitler realized his air force were not strong enough to win, so he postponed his invasion of Britain and focused on the Soviet Union. -
Battle of the Atlantic
The Battle of the Atlantic started in the summer of 1940 and continued until the end of the war in August 1940. Germany used their "U-Boats" which were submarines that attacked Allies. The Germans also used aircraft. This was a significant win for the Allies because it foshadowed Germany's loss of the war and showed that the German blockade failed. -

Battle of Midway
The battle of Midway was a Japanese offensive with the goal of eliminating the United States as a powerful force in the war. This was significant because it was the turning point in the Pacific that stopped Japanese expansion. It was naval warfare. -
Battle of Tarawa
This was the first American offensive in the cricital part of the Pacific theater and the first Japanese opposition to Americans in which the Americans were coming from the water. Nearly 6,000 Japense and Americans died on the island of Tarawa. Japan fought to the last man, so the US lost. -

Battle of the Bulge
This battle was a large German offensive in the Ardennes Forest that lasted ten days. The 101st Airborne Division of Bastogne stopped Germany which were led by McAuliffe. This was significant because this was the largest and bloodiest battle fought in WW2 by the United States. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
This battle was when the American armed forces took over the Japanese island of Iwo Jima. This was the only battle in which the American casualities outnumbered the Japanese. -
