Bataan Death March
Forced transfer by the Japanese of over 70,000 Filipino and American prisoners of war. Around 10,000 Filipinos died on the way and about 600 Americans died. This was an unforgivable crime against humanity. The Japanese were guilty of awful mistreatment of the POWs and the murder of others. -
Battle of the Coral Sea
Major naval battle between the Imperial Japanese Navy and the US and Australian navies. It was important because it was the first battle where the ships actually didn't fire upon each other, in fact the ships never saw each other. It eas fought primarily at long rage with planes and long mortar shots from the aircraft carriers. -
Battle of Midway
Most important naval battle of the Pacific Campaign. US decisively defeated the Japanese at Midway Island. US caused irreparable damage to the Japanese fleet. There was no way of coming back after this devastating loss for the Japanese. It was fought by aircraft and ships. -
Battle of Stalingrad
Fought between Germany and Soviet Union. One of the bloodiest battles of all time. It was a significant battle because of Stalin's namesake to the town. It was fought in close-quarters combat. -

Battle of the Bulge
Fought between the Germans and the Allies. The final major offensive for the Germans in WWII. After this loss, the Germans had nothing to prevent the Allies from advancing into Germany. It was fought mainly by foot soldiers. -
