The corona virus (COVID-19), started in Wuhan, China in December. This virus quickly spread to other countries. The cases grew wildly and more people got infected by the day. Any contact with someone who has this virus can get you infected. -
How Corona Spread Around China
Covid started in China. No one knew about the virus since it was new. No one knew the symptoms. At the time, it could pass as a common cold or flu. People were going near each other and making contact, not knowing about the deadly bacteria in their system. -
Reaching Canada
COVID-19 reached Canada because of people that were outside of the country, got infected by covid, and came back to Canada. Healthcare workers were getting ready to take care of plenty of patients. Canada eventually closed its borders to prevent any other people to come in Canada and infect more people. -
Ignoring Quarantine Orders
A lot of people are ignoring quarantine orders and going outside for unnecessary reasons, like hanging with friends, shopping for clothes, and visiting people. Some people think its because the virus is just a common flu, and some just don't care. It's hard to control these out of control people. Especially when there's a lot of them. That is also a major reason in why this virus is still spreading. -
Fatal Infections
In some cases, the corona virus can be deadly. For example, some people with lung problems, old age, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer can cause the virus to be deadly towards them. There has been 1,834 deaths in Canada, and 176,926 worldwide. -
The First Death Caused by Covid
On January 11, 2020, China confirmed its first known death of the corona virus. It was a 61-year-old man in Wuhan. -
Quarantine
On January 23, 2020, China put Wuhan, a city of 11 million people under quarantine. Meaning, you cannot go outside, unless it is very important. All flights, buses and trains throughout the city were suspended. -
Passing SARS
On February 9, 2020 the death toll in mainland China rose to 811, passing the number of fatalities from the SARS outbreak in 2003.
