Summerfest
This is when people really started to realize the impact hippies were making on society for the common good. -
LSD
LSD was introduced in the same year. Everyone started to use LSD. First it started with the hippies in then the mainstream started to use it. -
Altamont Speedway Festival
This was another festival that the hippies gathered to. The Hell’s Angels were there for security reasons. Then the Hell’s Angels started a fight with one of the hippies and it ended up getting out of hand, causing the festival to shut down. This caused the counterculture movement to come to a halt. -
Iraq War Protest
Due to what the counterculture did in history, it started a trend later on down in history. Such as the Iraq War protest. More and more people started to protest for what they thought was right for society. The counterculture movement influenced these acts. -
March For Women’s Lives Protest
Just like in the Counterculture Movement, women began to start being independent. They fought to be able to make decisions for themselves. In the March for Women’s Lives protest, they did just that. They fought for abortion rights, reproductive care, and women’s rights. The things women did during the counterculture, is the same thing women are doing years from then. -
People’s Climate Movement
This movement was about climate change. People protested to change the way we treat our earth. The Hippies were all about the environment, they thought the world was a beautiful place and later generation are protesting to keep it that way.
