Smith Hughes Act Established
Smith Hughes act funding Agriculture in High Schools. -
Boys FFA in Virginia
Virginia became the first state to have a Future Farmers Club, but it was male only. -
FFA becomes a national organization
Teachers who were apart of FFA all came and worked together to establish a club for boys who were also interested in the same things. -
NFA formed
The NFA was formed, also the new farmers of america, for black male students in the south. -
FFA recieves federal charter
FFA became one of the few student-run organizations to recieve a federal charter from congress. -
FFA and NFA merged
Both came together to form one big agriculture based program. -
Girls allowed to join FFA
For the first time, women and girls were allowed to join the once boy based agriculture program. -
FFA name change
FFA changed it's name from Future Farmers of America to National FFA organization to reflect the different cultures mixed within the program. -
National FFA Convention completes 7 year run
FFA convention hosted in Indianapolis for 7 years, and returns to Kentucky in 2013 or 3 more years.
