    The Dred Scott vs. Sanford case was the first major case involving the use of Slavery. He was a free slave since he moved so there was a huge court case and for the first time the supreme court backed him up.

    This event took place on good friday. Just as the Civil War was coming to a close. Just five days after there were Generals surendering to one another. Lincoln was the first Presedent to be Assassinated.

    Joe McCarthy of Wisconsin led Americans to agree with the term, "McCarthyism." He waved a peice of paper claiming that he found 205 communists.

    Gideon wrote a letter to the Surpreme court saying he deserves a retrial since he could not afford an attorny to help him with his case. So ever since Gideon, because of the 14th ammendment, if you cant afford an attorny, one will be appointed to you.
