Magna Carta
The Magna Carta was a document of rights written by King John of England. It originally was not used but it eventually became the main source for England's common laws. The American used it for it ideas in the 4th amendment. This amendment helps protect citizens from unlawful searches and seizures, a gives the right to a speedy trial. -

Shay's Rebelion
Shay's Rebellion was a series of small battles in Massachusetts.It was caused by the governments heavy tax regulations. They fought to crush the federal governments power. This was the event that incited the constitutional convention and the writing of the constitution. -
Virginia Plan
The plan was proposed by the delegates of Virginia. It was drafted by James Madison with the purpose of creating a one chamber legislative. It occurs in the first article of the constitution. -
New Jersey Plan
The New Jersey plan was an option of how the nation would be governed. It was created by William Paterson. It was a plan that would allow each state to have one vote in congress. This was referenced with the same ideas in article one of the constitution. -
Three-Fifths Compromise
The three fifths compromise, created it possible for slaves to count as 3/5 of a person when voting. This was first proposed by James Wilson and Roger Sherman. The compromise was can be found in the second clause of the first article.
