Declaration By Anwar Sadat
Anwar Sadat made a momentous declaration by wanting peace with Israel. To help facilitate, U.S. president Jimmy Carter invited Sadat and Israeli prime minister to Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland. -
Camp David Accords
An agreement was made between Sadat and Israeli prime minister, Menachem Begin. Egypt would finally recognize Israel and Israel would return the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt. -
Intifada
Palestinian resentment of Israeli occupation boiled over into a rebellion. During the intifada, Palestinian youths battled Israeli troop in widespread street violence.
