Jersey Handout
This last Friday, April 20th, was equipment and jersey handout for the start of our Concordia University Falcons spring football season. Players choose their numbers and selected from a table filled with practice jerseys. A short information meeting was also held right after handouts from 9:20 - 9:50 a.m. -
First Practice
It was a frigid Monday morning was the very first day of spring ball. Players had to wake up early for practice. It was scheduled to start at 6:30 a.m. and continued till 7:30 a.m. A meeting by the coaches followed at 9:20 - 9:50 a.m. -
Second Practice
Slightly warmer, Tuesday was the second day of the two week long spring ball season. Practice started at 6:30 a.m. and consisted of a warm up jog as well as stretches to prepare the players for a couple of drills. -
Third Practice
It was a windy, and partly sunny Wednesday. Players met on the football field and went through warm ups and the offensive players started going through the plays, and defensive practiced a new defense. -
Forth Practice
Friday’s practice consisted of the defensive players practicing inside running plays with the offensive players. The wide receivers worked on routes and quarterbacks practiced passing to the receivers while under defensive cover. -
Fifth Practice
Sunday’s practice started at 5:45 p.m. and went till 6:45 p.m. This was a more relaxed practice as the team split up and did drills and played some catching games. One game played was cat and mouse. Receivers and quarterbacks were divided up and ran a route, if the ball was caught that team got a point. -
Sixth Practice
Practiced started this Monday morning at 6:30 a.m. The offense played against the defense at the opposing 20 yard line in a game called 8 for 80. Each team gets 8 plays. Each play the team with the ball has to try and score. After each play the ball is reset ten yards ahead of the previous line of scrimmage. -
Seventh Practice
Tuesday’s practice started at 6:30 a.m. The offense played the defense in a game called first down. The offense got four plays to get a first down. The goal of the game is for the offensive team to get a first down and for the defensive team to prevent them from getting a first down. -
Eighth Practice
Wednesday’s practice was canceled due to rain and lightning and the players just had meetings with their coaches. -
Ninth Practice
Friday’s practice weather was anything but delightful. It was cold and breezy and started raining part way through practice. The practice continued however as quarterbacks practiced throwing in the rain and receivers practiced running routes and catching.
