  • First ever battery

    The first ever Battery was invented by Alessandro Volta in 1800. It was made for powering things up so they could work. It was also released in the same year as it was made. (1800)

  • Headphones

    The first successful pair of headphones was made by Nathaniel Baldwin. It was made by his hands and originated from the telephone receiver earpiece. It was sold to The Navy army and released around the same time as when it was made.

  • The Dvorak keyboard

    The first ever Dvorak keyboard was invented by August Dvorak. The keyboard is used for trying letters, numbers and symbols onto the computer so that it shows. The keyboard was released around 1936, six years after it was invented.

  • The circuit board

    The first ever circuit board was created by Paul Eisler. At that time, it was often used for radios and gramophones at the time. The first double sided one (with plated through holes) however was created in around 1947, Also by Paul Eisler. The one sided circuit board was released in 1936.

  • The Colossus

    The Colossus was invented by Tommy flowers. It was built during world war two and used to break German codes. It had over 1700 tubes and weighed 5 tons. It was released in 1943 - 1944.

  • Touchscreen computer

    The first ever touchscreen computer was invented by E.A Johnson. Unlike the keyboard, the touchscreen allows you to actually touch the screen with your fingers and move the screen/ type with your hands/ fingers too. It was also released around 1960 - 1965.

  • Computer mouse

    The computer mouse was invented by Douglas C. Engelbart and Bill English. The computer mouse is used for moving the cursor to different items/ places on the screen and clicking different things. It was released around november 17, 1970.

  • The floppy/ flappy disc

    The first floppy disk was invented by Alan Shugart (IBM). The floppy disk is a hardware device which reads data storage information. It was later released in 1981.

  • Apple I

    The first ever (apple) computer was invented by Steve Jobs, Ronald Wayne and Steve Woziak. It had a normal keyboard and wasn’t touch screen. It was released around July 1976, the same year it was made.

  • USB

    The first USB was invented by Ajay Bhatt. The usb allows you to store information and photos inside the usb for later. It was released in January 1996, two years after it was invented.
