The Lisa Computer
Lisa was the first commercial PC with a graphical user interface. The Lisa ran on a Motorola 68000 microprocessor and came with 1 MB of RAM, a 12-inch black-and-white monitor, dual 5.25-inch floppy disk drives and a 5 MB "Profile" hard drive. -
PowerBook Laptops
All three versions of the PowerBook featured a built-in trackball, internal floppy drive, and palm rests. This was created by Apple, but was soon discontinued in 2006. -
The Newton
Apple introduced the Newton, which is a handheld computer, that was called a "Personal Data Assistant". It defined features for handheld computers in the next few decades, but it was discontinued in 1998. -
Earth Simulator is world's fastest supercomputer
Created by the Japanese government, the Earth Simulator is a massively parallel, vector-based system. It costs roughly $600 million. The housing it was in, was built using a seismic isolation system that used rubber supports, to protect it from earthquakes. The Earth Simulator was the top fast supercomputer in the world from 2002 to 2004. -
The Apple iPhone is Released
Apple created and released the iPhone, which is a combination of web browser, music player and a cell phone, This can download "apps" or applications from the online Apple store. It is a touchscreen enabled smartphone that also has a built-in GPS, high-definition camera, calendar, texting, weather reports, and voice dictation. -
Maya's First Phone
I got my first phone when I was 8. I got it on my birthday from my Oma. My parents didn't think I was old enough to receive one, but they let me have it anyway. It was an iPhone 3, which was the first iPhone created. It changed the way I could contact my family and friends, the way I could go on the internet, etc. Doing this definitely affected my future as a teenager. -
Rylie's First Tablet
I got my first tablet first Christmas. It was an Apple iPad that I still use today. It changed the way I read, watched TV, etc. Before I had an iPad, I had an iPod, so I could now do more than just listen to music.
