    Phonograph was invented in 1877. It was invented in France and it was the first machine to record sound and play it back. This invention was invented by Thomas Edison. This inventor was born in Milan, Ohio in 1847 and he died on october 18, 1931, when he was 84 years old. He invented the phonograph to record phone messages. It is used to determine the frequency of a musical tone and to study sound and speech.

    Gramophone was invented in 1888. It was invented in Germany by Emile Berliner. The mechanism was very similar to Edison’s phonograph except that the sounds were stored on a flat disc rather than on a cylindrical drum.

    Tape recorder was invented in 1920 in Germany. This invention was invented by Fritz Pfleumer. It works by as the tape moves past the recording head. The powder is magnetised in such a way that the tape carries a record of the electric signal.

    The Walkman was invented in 1979. The invention was invented in Japan by Engineers at the Sony Corporation. Walkmans could not record sound but they were an instant success.
  • COMPACT DISCS

    COMPACT DISCS
    Compact discs were invented in 1980 in Japan. These discs were invented by the electronics companies Philips and Sony. The sound is recorded digitally as a series of numbers. The Discman quickly replaced the Walkman.
