Newspaper
The first printed newspaper was produced in 1665, England. This was the first time communities and authorities could communicate important events with it’s residents. -
Telegraph
In 1837, Samuel Morse officially applied for federal government appropriation. This was the first time communication used electricity. -
Pony Express
Pony Express started in 1860, it ended 18 months after. This allowed people to receive mail within 10 days, which was much more efficient than before. -
Typewriter
Christopher Latham Sholes invented the typewriter in 1867. The typewriter helped the work of writers. This allowed communication from newspapers and letters to be much faster. -
Telephone
Alexander Graham Bell made the first telephone call in 1876. After 141 years people still use different versions of the telephone. A large number of inventions, such as the smartphone, have been made possible because of the telephone. -
Radio
The first wireless signal sent from a radio was the letter “S” in 1899, thanks to Guglielmo Marconi. Not only has the radio helped people all over the world listen to current events and their favorite songs, the radio has also been used in many wars, aiding countries victories and loses. -
Television
In 1929 Philo Farnsworth invented the television. The television allows people to communicate through movies, tv shows, News channels, and much more. -
Computer
Charles Babbage invented the first computer like machine in the late 1800s. However, the first programmable computer was invented by Konrad Zuse. Konrad Zuse's computer was invented from 1936-1938. The computer helps people all around the world to learn and communicate. -
Color Television
By 1950 the general public had been introduced to color television. John Logie Baird made it possible to get a better understanding of the settings television outlets had been trying to communicate. -
Email
Ray Tomlinson invented email in 1972. Email allowed users to send mail electronically and get almost instant responses. -
Cellphone
Martin Cooper invented the first portable phone, also known as the “cellphone”, in 1973. For over 40 years the cellphone has been a main part of communication. -
Laptop
The laptop was created by Osborne Computer Corporation in 1981. The Laptop was origonaly available for purchase at $1795. This was the first time computer users could easily transport there devices. -
Smartphone
The first touchscreen phone, or “smartphone”, was invented by IBM simon in 1992. Newer versions of the smartphone are the most common usage of phones. Over 2 billion people in the world use cellphones to communicate and interact with one another. -
Tablet
The first tablet was invented by Microsoft in 2000. However, the company Lenovo produced the design. The tablet has inspired products that we use today, such as the ipad. We use these products to communicate for entertainment, work, and school purposes. -
ipad
Steve Jobs invented the ipad, which was announced in 2010. The ipad has entertained people, helped with work, and allowed students to get an education. The ipad has become an excellent way for friends, family, students, and teachers to communicate with one another online.
