Colorada joins the union
By I876, Republicans needed to increase their electoral count, and the Colorado constitution, ready and waiting, was approved by Congress. Colorado became a state just three days before the nation’s centennial, and so is known as The Centennial State. They were the 38th state to join the union. -
Last public hanging in Denver
On Tuesday, July 27, 1886 at 2:20 P.M., Andrew Green, a 25-year-old Black male became the last to be publicly in Denver. He had been found guilty several weeks earlier of shooting and killing Joseph C.Whitnah (a streetcar driver) in he course of robbing him. -

Denver Broncos professional football team established
They are currently members of the West Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Denver Rockets became Colorado's pro basketball team
The Denver Nuggets are a professional basketball team based in Denver, Colorado. They were founded as the Denver Rockets in 1967 as a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association, and became one of that league's more successful teams. After changingtheir name to the Denver Nuggets, they joined the NBA in 1976. They play home games at the Pepsi Center. -

The Colorado Rockies are a Major League Baseball team based in Denver, Colorado. Established in 1991, they started play in 1993 and are in the West Division of the National League. The team is named after the Rocky Mountains. The Rockies play their home games at Coors Field in downtown Denver. Following multiple losing seasons, the Rockies won the National League pennant for the first time in franchise history during the 2007 season. -

Broncos win the Superbowl 32
1999 Super Bowl XXXIII-Denver Broncos v.s Atlanta Falcons The Denver Broncos (17–2) defeated Atlanta Falcons (16–3), 34–19. At 38 years old, Denver quarterback John Elway became the oldest player ever to be named Super Bowl MVP. As the final game of his career, he completed 18 of 29 passes for 336 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, and also scored a 3-yard rushing touchdown. Elway retired on May 2 before the following season. -
Largest recorded avalanche at Berthoud Pass
An avalanche near the top of Berthoud Pass put rescue workers on alert. The Grand County Sheriff's Office says the avalanche was near the west side of Highway 40 and a person who saw the snow slide thought there was a person either very close or in part of the avalanche and was not sure if the person made it out. Grand County Search and Rescue crews responded. They were helped out by Alpine Search and Rescue and a Flight for Life helicopter. They determined no one was buried in it.
