Agriculture
The things that farms give us are originally from Agriculture. We get corn, wheat, meat, and dairy.The impact is that Colorado as a state got more people for the population and we got more foods and drinks.They came here because of the open land and the good water, grass and the soil. -
Mining
In the 1800's we did not get as much goods from mining as we do today. The impact was that the town people got money from people staying there to mine. The prospectors did not mean to come to Colorado they were trying to go to California for the Gold Rush and accidently found gold here. -
Tourism
The tourism services provide events such as: skiing, golfing, fishing, hiking, biking, hunting, camping, rafting, and many winter events. Some of the impact is that many people got jobs and money.The resources needed were busses to get them to thier destination:also they needed rafts, tents, bikes and equipment. -
Beverage
Beer is very famous in Colorado. Coors Beer started in 1873. The impact is that we have something to drink for celebration. The reason that Coors came here was because there were good recorces to help make the beer.They needed farms to get the wheat and the ingredients for the beer. -
Federal Angencies
One of the main things provided was Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Some of the impact was that we now have laws, jobs, and safety. They came here to make Colorado a state in 1876. -
Sports
The sport of Football was important even in the 1800's! It provided sports for the schools and entertainment for the students. The schools gained lots of money and national recognition. Football spread to Colorado from the East coast. The first game west of the Mississippi was in Denver between DU and CC. CC won 12-0. Resources needed were athletes, things to wear and a place to play. -
Cattle and Sheep
Cattle and Sheep give us many things.Cattle give us 150 million gallons of milk a year. Sheep give us 3.3 million pounds of wool a year. The impact is that we get milk, wool, meat, and jobs. The cattle and sheep came here by train for the land grass and water. They needed lots, they needed steel for the shelter, water, food and land to roam. -
Mining today
Suprisingly mining is still in buisness today.They produse gold, silver, coal, uranium, and diamonds. The biggest impact is that it created the School of Mines in Denver. Some of the recorces needed were water, axes, and people to do the mining. -
Medical Today
Medicine has always been very important for children. A special hospital started in 1897 that was just for kids under 16 years old. The Childrens hospital is now across the nation and helps any kids with any illness. The Denver Childrens Hospital has 270 beds just for kids. The hospital started in Denver because of the clean high altitude air. To run the hospital it takes lots of Doctors, beds, medicine, water, food and safe blood. -
Manufacturing Now
One great thing manufactured today in Colorado is Jolly Rancher candy. Jolly Rancher makes hard candy, gummies, jelly-beans, lollipops and soda. Jolly Rancher was s new product in Denver stores in 1949. The company was started in Golden, Colorado. The main resources were water, sugar and fruit. Jolly Ranchers are yummy!
