St. Augustine
Home of Florida's Natatioal Guard. St. Augustine was moved from the Florida Territory to Tallahassee by the goverment. St. Augustine was founded by Pedro Menendez de Aviles. St. Augustine is over 200 years old. -
Roanoke Colony
Walter Raleigh got permission from Queen Elizzibeth the 1 to colonize America. He landed on an island in which the natives called Roanoke Island. So that is what he called his colony. The colony only lasted 10 months. -
New Netherlands
The Dutch were the rulers of the New Netherland Colony. So they set up a little shack called the Dutch West India Company.It was a place that you could trade fur coats and trade for weapons for self defense. The Dutch traded trinkets and things which was an equivlent of $24. -
Jamestown
Founded by John Smith. First permanent English settlement . After the first year because of sickness and Indian attacks more than half of the people died. A tobacco expansion helped it grow. Burned to the ground as a revolt against the governor. The colony survived because John Smith said work or starve! -
Plymouth
Second permanent\ lasting English settlement. The Indians helped the pilgrims grow crops. The pilgrims sailed there on a ship named the Mayflower. -
Williamsburg
The population of Williamsburg is 14,068. That is a lot of people for a small colony. None of the buildings are the original buildings from the day that they were built. All 480 structures have been rebuilt but looks like that they have never been remade.The person that founded Williamsberg was King William the 3nd and Queen Mary the second of England. the named changed in the year 1699. They chose that area to make the colony because it had less mosquitoes. -
New Sweden
New sweden was made in the year 1638 to 1655. It was built along the Delaware River. With the Swedes and the Finns, the Dutch made the colony possible. The man that was the founder of New Sweden was Sven Gunnarsson. Sven was told to go help the others in the making of the colony in 1639. By the year 1643, Gunnarsson was a freeman. In 1653, he was one of the 22 people to sign the document that sent Johan Printz away. -
New Swenden's End
This is the end of the colony New Sweden colony. -
Pennsilvana Colony
The man that founded the Pennsylvania Colony is William Penn. He founded the colony with a grant of a lot of money. William’s goal was to make a 100% free colony and to protect his people from the persecution.
