This was when NSW was colonised by Arthur Philip. The fleet Arthur Philip came in was called the First Fleet which brought >1000 people and 11 ships. This colony was colonised because there was too many people in English prisons and Hulks. an interesting fact was if the conditions at Botany Bay was good, then the NSW settlement would've been at Botany Bay! This colony was a penal colony, This colony was colonised by the English People. -

Colonisation of Van Dieman's Land/Tasmania
This is when Van Dieman's Land/Tasmania was colonised. The 1st governor was Colonel George Arthur. Tasmania was colonised to stop the French from claiming Van Dieman's Land. An interesting fact is that there was a minor colony already established in 1803.This colony was a penal colony. -
Swan River/WA Colonised
This is when WA was colonised. The 1st goveror was Governer James Stirling. WA was colonised because In 1827, Captain James Stirling and the botanist Charles Fraser became enthusiastic about the potential of the river, and considered the possibility of a settlement. An interesting fact is that the colony had fresh water, lime and clay. This colony was established by the English People and was not a penal colony. -
South Australia colonised
This was when SA was colonised. Governor John Hindermarsh was the 1st governor. South Australia was colonised as a commercial and administrative partnership between the British Government and the South Australian Colonisation Commission. A very interesting fact is that in 1850, Copper was discovered in Burra Burra, a place in inland South Australia and the Savings Bank of South Australia was established. The South Australian colony was established by the English and wasn't penal. -
VIC separated from New South Wales
The first governor was Governor Charles La Trobe. An interesting fact is that between 1851 and 1861, Victoria was colonised to be a Non-convict colony. Victoria grew from a colony of 76 000 people to the largest colony with 540 000 people which was 45 per cent of the Australian population. This colony was established by the English People and was not penal. Victoria was separated from New South Wales, like Queensland -
QLD separated from New South Wales
QLD was separated from the New South Wales on the sixth of June, 1859. The first governor was Sir George Ferguson Bowen. An interesting fact is that Brisbane used to be Moreton Bay. It was moved south and became Brisbane. Queensland was colonised because Queen Victoria signed Letters Patent to form the colony of Queensland. Queensland was not penal. -
Federation
1901 was the year Australia was federated and became a nation. The picture is from 1900 when WA had to vote to join the rest of federated Australia.
