Foundation stone of the dom
The foundation stone of the Gothic Cathedral was laid on the 15th August 1248 within the celebration for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. -

Construction stopped
In the early 16th century building was stopped – partly due to the lack of money, partly due to the lack of interest. -
Construction continues
In 1842, the King Friedrich Wilhelm IV laid the foundation stone for the continuation of building work. -
Cathedral Completed
The Cathedral was completed in 1880 – in accordance with the plan originating from the Middle Ages – in a record time of only 38 years. -

Dom suffered from the World War II but it did not collapse -
The repair work finished
The repair to the damage of the church during World War II was finished in 1956
