    The Sputnik was the First Artificial Satellite that the Soviet union launched into orbit. This Soviet success fuel the American Sputnik Crisis and triggered the Space Race. This launched brought new political, scientific and technological advance.

    U-2 event
    The United States sent a plane known as the U-2 to spy on the soviet union but it was shot down and the pilot was captured, Because of this the pilot was sentenced to 2 years in prison, but he was released after just 2 years because the Soviet union traded him for one of their spies captured by the US. So, this incident in the cold war was hypocritical, The Soviet union was mad because we had sent a spy there but they had done the same to us

    This treaty banned the testing of any nuclear weapons above ground This meant the the only way that Nuclear weapons could be tested would be to test them under ground because it was thought to be better for the enviroment This treaty was hailed for being an important first step in the control of nuclear weapons. This treaty came about because the United states and the Soviet Union believe the Nuclear arms race was becoming to dangerous Plus public protest had begun for the ban of nuclear weapons
