    Marshall plan

    On April 3rd 1948 president truman had signed the economic recovery act which was then named the Marshall plan. The Marshall plan all happened in Europe because the Europeans were in need of help. The Marshall plan wanted to help the economic recovery of nations after WWll.
  • Iron Curtain Speech

    Winston Churchill was concerned about the soviets taking over Eastern Europe and creating totalitarian governments and he also wanted the united states to be involved. The Iron was a division between Western Europe capitalist countries ad Eastern Europe Communist countries.
  • Truman Doctrine

    President Harry S. Truman settled for a more peaceful political, military and economical help to every single democratic nations. Many countries were involved but the main two were Greece and Turkey. Truman Doctrine only helped the countries that were threatened by the Soviet communism.
  • Berlin Blockade

    It only lasted for a year but it was one of the first international crisis of the Cold War. During WW ll Germany and Soviet Union blocked the western Allies' roads, canals, and railroads access. This occurred either in Berlin or West Berlin. The Cold War is what caused Berlin Blockade because Stalin was taking over eastern Europe and Czechoslovakia turned communist.The Soviet Union wanted to limit the ability for France, Great Britain, and the United States to travel to their sectors.
  • Berlin airlift

    On June 23,1948 the Berlin airlift began. On July 1945 president truman, Winston Churchill and Josef Stalin all met together to divide Germany into 4 temporary occupation zones. The Berlin airlift all occurred because British pilots began delivering food and supplies to Berlin after the city was isolated by a Soviet Union blockade.
  • Communists take over China

    Communists were taking over China because of Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong was already a communist leader and he was the Chairman of the communist party of China so he led them to victory in a civil war against the nationalist regime. Communist taking over China had resulted in the proclamation of the people's republic of China.
  • NATO

    On April 4,1949 NATO which stands for North Atlantic Treaty organization was established by the Washington treaty. NATO occurred in several places like Belgium, Britain, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland and etc. 12 countries were part of NATO.
  • Korean War

    The war reached internationals proportions in June 1950. North Korea supplied and advised by the Soviet Union which was invaded by the South. The United Nations and the United States both joined the war on the side of the South Koreans and then the north Korea invaded South Korea. It all happened when North Korean people's army rushed across the 38th parallel.
  • Revolt in Hungary

    The Revolt in Hungary didn’t even last a year. It began on October 23, 1956 - November 10, 1956. Hungarian revolution, popular rising in Hungary, a speech by Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev which he had attacked the period of Joseph Stalin’s rule. Many people had been killed and almost a quarter million Hungarians fled the country. Many problems occurred in Hungary because protesters demanded a more democratic political system and freedom.

    In 1957 a group of scientists created NII-4 military institute pioneered the work which led to the first soviet artificial satellite. During the 1950's, the united states and the soviet union were working to make many new different technology. The Sputnik was so successful that it had a major impact on the United States and and the Cold War.
  • Sputnik

    Sputnik occurred on October 4th 1957 at exactly 7:28 pm. Sputnik had launched and it was the first artificial satellite. During the post world-War ll USSR, a group of scientists created the Nll-4 which led to the first artificial satellite.
  • Great Leap Forward

    On January 1958 they Great Leap Forward began during the period of the second 5 year plan. Mao had said that the Great Leap Forward was going to last up to 5 years and this plan was happening because they wanted to modernize chinas economy which then China had an economy that rivaled America.
  • Apollo program

    The Apollo program began on 1961 -1975. It was the third United States human space flight program space administration which is also known as NASA. The Apollo program was used to help humans land on the moon safely & bring them back to Earth safety. 6 of the Apollo missions actually worked. The Apollo program started because Apollo 13 suffered an accident.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    The Cuban Missile Crisis started October 1962 and it was a very dangerous confrontation between the united states and the soviet union. The soviet union began building missile sites in Cuba. It was the moment when the Cold War came closest to a nuclear war.
  • Cultural Revolution

    It was a sociopolitical movement which lasted 10 years in China launched by Mao Zedong in 1966. This movement spread into the military, urban workers, and the communist party leadership. Mao Zedong had just launched the cultural revolution in order to reassert his authority over the Chinese government.
  • Revolt in Czechoslovakia

    Alexander Dubcek was elected the First Secretary of the communist party. The Soviet Union led Warsaw Pact troops in an invasion of Czechoslovakia to crack down on reformist trends in Prague.
  • Vietnam War

    North Vietnam and South Vietnam fought. North Vietnam was only supported by the Soviet Union,China, and North Korea. South Korea was supported by many countries like the United States, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Philippines.China had become communist and they wanted to control North Vietnam. The USA was scared that communism would spread to South Vietnam so they went on their side.
