    Joe McCarthy was a senator from Wisconsin. McCarthy accused 57 state department employees of being communist but, with no proof. Those people were fired and had others afraid defend the accused because they could be accused of being communist. This was important because he was framing people to make himself have more influence, power, and to make him look like a hero. This impacted the politics because it spread fear and suspicion of communism in the government.

    Brown vs Board of Education
    Brown vs The board of Education was between Oliver Brown and the local school he lived by. Brown was an African American man who wanted his daughter to attend an all white school in which the school declined due to her being African American. The case was taken to the Supreme Court due to it violating the 14th Amendment. Brown won the case and this allowed all the desegregation of all schools across America. This affected Politics because it overturned the Plessy vs Ferguson case.
  • Berlin Wall

    Berlin Wall
    Germans were divided by the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall was built to keep East Berliners from escaping to West Berlin because they wanted to be free. East German soldiers began building a wall made of concrete with barbed wire on top over night and were forced to shoot people who came near it. This affected society because its going to split families and divide the City of Berlin. The wall was taken down in 1989.
  • Kent State Massacre

    Kent State Massacre
    21,000 students were involved in the event. These students were protesting Nixon's pledge to send troops to Cambodia. Police officers were bayoneting and clubbing students for protesting. The event took place in Ohio, U.S. Gunshots were fired and 4 students were killed and 9 were wounded. This affected society because 25 students and professors were found guilty of the massacre not the National Guard who were not held accountable.

    Bill Clinton was a republican president from 1992-2000. Clinton was the governor of Arkansas before being elected president. He lowered our debt to 0 and his wife Hillary was the first woman to run for president. These were important because it he got us out of debt and encouraged woman to accomplish their dreams. Lowering the debt impacted the economy because we did not owe money to any country.
