Truman Doctrine/ Marshall Plan
The Truman Doctrine was the U.S giving $400 million to Greece and Turkey. They were given this money for military purposes on fighting communist. This effected our society and theirs by once again going to a great extents to fight communism and protecting people who need it. Korean War
After World War ll Korea became split in two, a North Korea and a South Korea. The country was divided into two at the 38th parallel. It was divided because North Korea was communist while South Korea was democratic. This was a problem because two different government styles in the same country is never good. Cuban Missile Crisis
This was the closest that the United states has ever been to a nuclear war. This all started when the Soviet Union started giving Cuba weapons which seemed a little suspicious to the United states. So the U.S sent over spy planes to see what was happening and they found out that they had missiles pointed right towards us. This sent the U.S into panic. Jimmy Carter
Jimmy Carter was the 39 president of the United States. Before becoming president he was governor of Georgia which made the people believe that he could run the whole U.S. During his presidency he ended up doing something that effected the world, he boycotted the Olympics of 1980 because it was being held by the Soviet Union. Also, he passed the social security act which helped people greatly. This impacted society by taking the Olympics away and showing that the U.S was done messing around. -
