Cause- The Cause of the Truman Doctrine was the British government's announcement that it could no longer afford to provide military and economic aid to Greece and Turkey, which were facing communist insurgencies and Soviet pressure.
Effect-The Truman Doctrine, a cornerstone of US foreign policy during the Cold War, was created in 1947 to contain the spread of communism by providing economic and military aid to countries threatened by Soviet influence, particularly Greece and Turkey. -
McCarthyism
Cause- A Large Cause was the First Red Scare, inspired by the communism's emergence
Effect- Many citizens lost their jobs, homes, and livelihoods just for the sake of trying to catch a suspected communist. -
Korean War
Cause-The Korean War stemmed from the post-World War II division of Korea into communist North Korea and democratic South Korea, with the North's invasion of the South in 1950 triggering the conflict and escalating Cold War tensions.
Effect-The Korean War, which ended in an truce rather than a peace treaty, led to the continued division of Korea, a strengthened US-South Korean alliance, and a lasting impact on global politics and military strategy. -
Brown V. Board Of Education
Cause- The segregation of public schools based on race.
Effect- The Supreme Court ruled that segregation of schools based on race was unconstitutional. -
Montgomery Bus Boycott
Cause- The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a pivotal Civil Rights Movement sparked by Rosa Park's refusal to give up her seat to a white man.
Effect- Led to the Supreme Court deeming segregation on buses due to color is unconstitutional,. -
Vietnam War
Cause- The ideological conflict of the Cold War between things such as communism and democracy, and North Vietnam's desire to unify the country under a communist regime.
Effect- Large amounts of human loss, destruction, and a communist reunification of the country. -
Sputnik
Cause- During the Cold War their was an intense rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union to achieve technological dominance.
Effect- Caused a huge technological gap between the United States, which indeed sparked a space race and Cold Arms race. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
Cause-The main cause was the deployment of Soviet Nuclear Missiles on Cuba which was 90 miles from the U.S, raising heads if the U.S was next to be attacked.
Effect-The effects included a near-nuclear war, the establishment of a hotline between the White House and the Kremlin, and the Partial Test Ban Treaty of 1963. -
March On Washington
Cause- The March On Washington was primarily caused due to the ongoing struggle for African American civil rights which included segregation, lack of voting rights, and unemployment.
Effect- The March On Washington led to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. -
JFK Assassinated
Cause- Unknown
Effect- Lyndon B.Johnson had to take up from where president JFK left off after he died, whilst also implementing his own ideals. -
Civil Rights Act
Cause- The constant discrimination and segregation faced by African Americans in the U.S, particularly in the South.
Effect- Mostly dismantled legal discrimination and segregation based on race, color, sex, religion, or national origin. -
MLK Assassination
Cause- MLK was assassinated because of his strong Civil Rights presence and ideals.
Effect- MLK's Assassination produced widespread riots, a surge in civil rights activism, and the passage of the Fair Housing Act. -
RFK Assassination

Cause- North Vietnamese Communist forces, launching multiple attacks impacted on both South Vietnamese cities and U.S military bases during the Tet holiday.
Effect- It deeply impacted the Vietnam War by conflicting the public's views on the war, which ended up contributing to a shift in U.S strategy. -

Cause- To fulfill a national goal to land a man on the moon.
Effect- It boosted the United States standing in the world, whilst also inspiring many to take steps in advancing technology. -

Cause- To challenge a Texas Law that criminalized abortions unless it was medically necessary.
Effect- Increased efforts to restrict abortion, leading to multiple challenges. -
Watergate Break-In
Cause- Widespread campaign of political spying and sabotage on behalf of the Nixon re-election committee.
Effect- The Republican Party lost four seats in the Senate and 48 seats in the House at the 1974 mid-term elections, -
Iranian Hostage Crisis
Cause- One of the demonstrations organized by Iranian student unions loyal to Khomeini erupted into an all-out conflict right outside the walled compound housing the U.S. Embassy.
Effect- Iranian students in Tehran seized the U.S. Embassy and took 52 Americans hostage. The Iran Hostage Crisis lasted for 444 days and ended minutes after President Jimmy Carter left office in 1981.
